Their last appearance together was in the beloved classic ‘Bobby’ back in 1973. Recently, actresses Aruna Irani and Farida Jalal were invited on the latest episode of ‘Indian Idol.’ The reunion marked their first meeting on stage after almost 53 years! The last time the two veteran stars shared the screen was for Rishi Kapoor’s ‘Bobby’, and the meeting left both of them emotional.

Aruna Irani and Farida Jalal were the latest guests to be invited on the hit singing reality show, ‘Indian Idol.’ In a glimpse of the episode, the two actresses got emotional as they saw each other on stage together after so long. The two stars embraced one another, with Irani commenting, “Sabse pehle hum Sony ka shukriya karna chahenge. Aaj itne saalon baad humne ek dusre ko dekha hain” (First of all, we would like to thank Sony. Today, after so many years, we have seen each other).They then revealed that even though they had been working in the industry for so long, this was the first time they had met since 1973, when they worked together on ‘Bobby’, which also starred Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia.

Both Aruna Irani and Farida Jalal were welcomed on stage by the contestants through their iconic songs. They sang ‘Chadti jawani meri chaal mastani’ for Irani, who dances away on stage as everyone cheered ahead. Jalal, on the other hand, joined everyone on stage to the beats of ‘Aye Dil Laaya Hai Bahaar.’

Premise of ‘Bobby’

Starring Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Aruna Irani, and Farida Jalal, amongst many others, ‘Bobby’ revolved around the story of a rich teenager. He ends up falling in love with Bobby, a poor Catholic girl, and chaos ensues. One thing leads to another, and the two families try anything and everything to keep them apart.Kapoor and Kapadia played the lead roles, while Farida Jalal played Bobby’s closest friend, Nickie. Aruna Irani joined the film as Nima, a bold and eccentric character, which got the actress a lot of praise at the time of the film’s release.
