VISAKHAPATNAM: A leisure trip to a waterfall in Mallugummi, ASR district, turned tragic on Thursday when three girls drowned and another was injured after they slipped and fell into the water.The deceased are S Trisha (17), S Ratnakumari (16), and S Pavitra (15). The injured girl, S Anjali (16), is undergoing treatment at a hospital. The four were relatives and from Jambuvalasa village in Hukumpeta mandal of the district.Anjali was clicking photos of the three others, who were standing on rocks near the edge of the waterfall, when they lost balance, fell into the water, and drowned. Anjali cried for help and later jumped into the water to save them, but she too began to drown. Passersby rushed to their rescue, but could save only Anjali. The three deceased were students of a nearby govt school. The ASR police have registered a case.
