RUDRAPUR: Two men were arrested for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman in a moving car in the Transit Camp area of Rudrapur.Police officials said that the survivor wrote in her complaint that on the morning of Jan 25 (Sunday), she was walking from her home to her workplace in Pantnagar when two men offered her a lift, claiming they would drop her at her destination. Instead, the accused allegedly drove around before one of them moved to the back seat and raped her inside the moving vehicle. She was later abandoned at a deserted location.An FIR was registered on Monday under sections 70(1) and 351(2) of the BNS.Based on the woman’s statement and subsequent collection of evidence, police arrested the first accused (34) from his residence on Tuesday and recovered the car used in the crime.A district forensic team collected evidence, including the survivor’s hair, from the vehicle. The second accused, aged 36, was arrested later that day.The arrests were carried out by teams of Special Operations Group (SOG) and city police .Survivor alleged she was walking from her home to her workplace when two men offered her a lift, claiming they would drop her at her destination.
