Watch: Man trying to hold tin shed gets swept into air during violent UP storm, survives terrifying fall

BAREILLY: In a terrifying incident caught on camera, a youth was lifted into the air while clinging onto a tin shed during a violent dust storm in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district on Tuesday evening. The incident was reported from Bamiyana village under the Bhamora police station area when strong winds uprooted a tin shed installed at a local marriage hall owned by village resident Mohammad Shakir.According to villagers, several people initially tried to hold onto the iron structure in place as the storm intensified. However, when the storm intensified, all of them barring Nanhe ran for safety.Nanhe continued clinging to the shed in an attempt to stop it from flying away. Within seconds, a strong gust lifted both the tin structure and the youth high into the air.Shocking visuals of the incident, now circulating online, show the youth airborne along with the flapping metal shed before he is eventually thrown into a nearby maize field.Nanhe, who is still trying to recover from the shock, said a powerful gust of wind lifted him nearly 50 feet into the air. He suffered injuries to his hand and is now facing difficulty in breathing.Villagers rushed to rescue Nanhe and took him to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Locals said he suffered multiple fractures in his arms and legs, along with severe injuries on other parts of his body.He is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bareilly, where his condition remains critical, sources said.

What do you think should be prioritized for storm preparation?

Residents said the storm was so severe that the tin shed was ripped apart and blown away “within moments like a pack of cards,” leaving the entire village shaken.Meanwhile, relief commissioner Harikesh Bhaskar confirmed that at least 104 people died across the state due to relentless rain, lightning, and thunderstorms over the past 36 to 48 hours.
