Three-time Olympic champion Adam Peaty is preparing for a historic moment at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The British swimmer will compete under his new name, Adam Ramsay-Peaty, following his marriage to Holly Ramsay late last year. The 31-year-old remains the senior figure in Team England’s 42-member swimming squad and is aiming to become the first British swimmer to win gold medals at four consecutive Commonwealth Games.Ramsay-Peaty first appeared at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 and later enjoyed success at the Gold Coast in 2018 and Birmingham in 2022. This summer, he is expected to compete in both the 100m breaststroke and the 50m breaststroke events. The swimmer recently admitted that he came close to stepping away from the sport after missing out on defending his Olympic title in Paris. Injuries and mental health struggles pushed him into what he described as a very difficult period in his life before he eventually rediscovered his motivation.

The Commonwealth Games in Glasgow could become one of the biggest moments of Adam Ramsay-Peaty’s career. The swimmer is chasing history by attempting to win gold medals at four straight editions of the Games. Ramsay-Peaty officially entered the competition using his new surname after marrying Holly Ramsay in December. During their honeymoon in Australia, he spent time training with former coach Mel Marshall as part of his preparations for the new season.However, his personal life has also attracted attention in recent months. Reports claimed that tensions grew within his family after several relatives were not invited to his wedding ceremony. Only his sister Bethany attended the event, while his parents, Caroline and Mark, and brothers James and Richard remained at home in Staffordshire.The situation became more controversial after claims emerged that the swimmer had started calling celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay “dad.” Adam’s aunt publicly criticised the move on social media. She said his father had made huge sacrifices throughout his life to help him achieve success in swimming. According to her, Mark Peaty spent years doing physically demanding construction work without complaint so his son could continue chasing his sporting dreams.
