R Madhavan shares post on five things men love but are shy to ask their wives for: 'Prioritises him over outside attention'

Actor R Madhavan and his wife Sarita Birje have often been admired for their long-lasting relationship. The couple dated for nearly eight years before tying the knot in 1999. Interestingly, Sarita was once Madhavan’s student at a public speaking workshop in Kolhapur, where the two first met before eventually falling in love.Known for openly expressing his admiration for his wife, Madhavan recently caught attention with a relatable social media post about relationships and emotional needs in marriage. The actor reposted an Instagram Story featuring a series titled “5 Habits Men Love but Are Too Shy to Ask Their Wives For.” The slides highlighted gestures such as “She Initiates Sometimes,” “She Speaks Well of Him Publicly,” “She Shows Random Affection,” “She Expresses Trust Clearly,” and “She Prioritizes Him Over Outside Attention.” The post subtly challenged traditional stereotypes where men are usually expected to make the first move or initiate affection.

Earlier, during an appearance on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Madhavan had spoken candidly about why his marriage with Sarita has remained strong despite the pressures of stardom.“We have an equal amount of fights as any couple. We have a great amount of respect for each other. For Sarita, I am not just a national star or an actor she has to feel privileged to be the wife of. She’s an equal partner with the guy who fell in love with her and respects her. And I lose no opportunity to make her feel how lucky I am,” he had shared. After getting married in 1999, the couple welcomed their son Vedaant Madhavan in 2005. Unlike his father, Vedaant chose not to pursue acting and instead developed a passion for professional swimming. In 2019, Vedaant made the country proud by winning a silver medal for India at the Asian Age Group Swimming Championships.
