UPESSC lecturer exam on May 9-10 amid tight security

Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) will conduct the written examination for the recruitment of lecturers (Pravakta Samvarg Bharti) for 624 posts across 18 subjects on May 9 and 10. As many as 4,64,605 candidates have registered for the examination, which will be held in two shifts.Commission chairman Prashant Kumar on Friday reviewed preparedness at 319 examination centres across 17 districts.Examination halls and other sensitive areas have been fitted with AI‑based CCTV cameras, which are connected to district control rooms and the commission’s Integrated Control and Command Room.To ensure strict monitoring, the commission has appointed one observer in each district, while prohibitory orders will remain in force around examination centres. Adequate security personnel will also be deployed. The commission warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found attempting to indulge in malpractice or operating cheating syndicates.Use of electronic devices, including mobile phones, will be strictly prohibited inside examination centres, Kumar said.To enhance transparency, UPESSC will roll out a pilot project at 10 centres in the Lucknow division, under which OMR answer sheets will be scanned immediately after each examination shift inside the examination hall, in the presence of both candidates and invigilators. The scanned data will be secured instantly, enabling verification with the original OMR sheets, if required.
