Rebel Wilson called a liar in the latest court hearing
As per the latest reports from The Guardian, the Federal Court of Australia overheard the last and closing statements regarding MacInnes’ lawsuit against the ‘Pitch Perfect’ star. As per the report shared online, the actress’ legal representative alleged that Wilson changed the ‘narrative’ about the case and the situation multiple times.She first alleged that MacInnes was a victim, and then allegedly labeled her as a ‘sex slave’, from which the narrative shifted to calling her a “lying, self-motivated money grubber.” It was also stated during the court hearing that Wilson hid key evidence and failed to present it in court, while also making up allegations about the film’s budget and release date issues, among other things. MacInnes’ lawyer, Sue Chrysanthou, has called Wilson a “fantastical liar who has made up terrible, terrible allegations about multiple people, and her own witnesses have discredited her.” She further added that “We say Ms Wilson cannot be believed on anything she has said,” during the court hearing.MacInnes’ lawyer also stated that this incident has caused the actress a lot of distress. “My client has been unable to eat, unable to sleep, has been distressed, fears what she reads next, fears what Rebel Wilson will do next,” she concluded the statement in court.
Rebel Wilson’s lawyer denies all claims
On the other hand, Wilson’s lawyer, Dauid Sibtain, has officially denied all claims made in court and has further presented the question of why the actress would lie about something of this nature, especially when it could be “catastrophic” for her own directorial debut. He also cited that the actress was rewarded for retracting her statement about the matter and was given a publishing deal and recording contract from one of the biggest studios in the market.
What had Rebel Wilson claimed, which led to the lawsuit
In old social media posts, Wilson had shared that an actress on set had been put into an uncomfortable position because of one of the producers on set of ‘The Deb’, her directorial debut. The producer in question was Amanda Ghost, who had allegedly made MacInnes uncomfortable after inviting her to her beach house. Allegedly, Wilson had also cited that the actress had told her about the incident the next day, however, she later changed her statements in return of favours in the film and music industry.MacInnes has completely denied the incident and has alleged that she did not complain or tell Wilson about anything of such nature. On top of that, text messages between Wilson and Ghost have also been revealed to the public, where the two are talking about ‘The Deb’ lead actress and the issues that were arising on set.Wilson’s legal reps had also alleged that the actress had told fellow producer Greer Simpkin about the incident; however, the latter has contradicted the statement and cited in court that she did not hear anything about the incident that happened between MacInnes and Ghost.
