Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to field in a high-stakes clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad, with both sides looking to bounce back after recent defeats in IPL 2026. This contest brings together two of the most explosive batting units in the league. Punjab Kings currently sit at the top of the table with 13 points, but back-to-back losses have tightened the race. Sunrisers Hyderabad are close behind in third place with 12 points, making this a crucial encounter in the playoff race. Both teams are coming off defeats, with Kolkata Knight Riders ending SRH’s five-match winning streak, while Gujarat Titans got the better of PBKS. PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer chose to bowl first, backing his side to chase after SRH successfully did so in their previous outing. He also highlighted the team’s learnings despite recent losses and confirmed one change in the XI. “We will bowl first. So far we have learned amazing things in the last few matches we have lost. We have no complaints so far because of travelling. Everyone are holding up well as professionals. Last match SRH chased so I thought we will bowl. Shashank comes in,” he said. SRH captain Pat Cummins admitted he would have preferred to bowl as well but remained confident of putting up a strong total. “I also would have bowled first. Hopefully we come up great tonight. The crowds have supported us very well this season. I can’t really judge the pitch, hopefully we will put some runs on the board. Nitish is back for us tonight,” he said, confirming the return of Nitish Kumar Reddy.Teams:Punjab Kings (Playing XI): Prabhsimran Singh(w), Cooper Connolly, Shreyas Iyer(c), Shashank Singh, Suryansh Shedge, Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Lockie Ferguson, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra ChahalSunrisers Hyderabad (Playing XI): Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan(w), Heinrich Klaasen, Salil Arora, Smaran Ravichandran, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Pat Cummins(c), Shivang Kumar, Eshan Malinga, Sakib Hussain With both teams stacked with power-hitters and plenty on the line, a high-scoring contest could be on the cards.
