Veteran film producer RB Choudhary dies in fatal car crash near Udaipur; Rajinikanth mourns his friend's loss

Veteran film producer RB Choudhary has died in a fatal car crash near Udaipur on Tuesday. Reports suggest the accident took place around 3 pm. The exact cause of the crash and the condition of others involved are yet to be confirmed.The producer, who founded the Super Good Films banner, had been a prominent name in Tamil cinema since 1988. His mortal remains are expected to be transported to Chennai, where his last rites will be held.RB Choudhary is survived by his wife Mahjabeen and sons, including actors Jiiva and Jithan Ramesh. Jiiva featured in several productions under the family banner, including Thithikudhe (2003), E (2006), and Kacheri Arambam (2010), among others.Further details regarding the accident are awaited.

Tributes pour in from the industry

Condolences have begun pouring in from across the film fraternity. Archana Kalpathi expressed shock over the loss, remembering him as a “stalwart producer” and “a very good human being.”Superstar Rajinikanth also mourned his demise, writing, “My dear friend RB Choudhary was a top-notch producer and a wonderful human being. He gave opportunities to countless young directors. His untimely death has left me in shock and deep sorrow.”

A legacy spanning decades of Tamil cinema

RB Choudhary’s first Tamil production, Pudhu Vasantham (1990), marked the directorial debut of Vikraman and earned him a Tamil Nadu State Film Award. He went on to back the debut of K. S. Ravikumar with Puriyada Pudir (1990).Over the years, he produced several successful films including Nattamai (1994), Poove Unakkaga (1996), Suryavamsam (1997), Thullatha Manamum Thullum (1999), and Aanandham (2001), among others. His later productions include Jilla (2014), Godfather (2021), and most recently Maareesan (2025).Choudhary was also instrumental in introducing several talents to the industry, including actors and filmmakers like Livingston, Rasu Madhuravan, S. Ezhil, Perarasu, and Rajakumaran.
