New Delhi: Kaccha Baniyan gang seems to be active in the city once again, with their most recent target being a house in south Delhi’s Sarvodaya Enclave. The burglary was reported on early Friday morning, when the gang allegedly decamped with cash and other valuables after a break-in.According to police, the robbers reportedly scaled the balcony of the house using a tree from the nearby Vijay Mandal park for support, indicating prior reconnaissance of the area. They then allegedly cut open the main door with a sharp-edged cutter to gain entry. Police received a PCR call about the incident around 6 am. The gang reportedly remained inside the house for nearly an hour.“A total of Rs 27,000 cash, a silver bowl, brass plates and a few household items were discovered to have been stolen,” said DCP (south) Anant Mittal. While reports claimed that a couple was held hostage, police denied this and said that they only discovered the theft when they woke up the next morning.CCTV footage from a camera installed inside the house later surfaced on social media, showing three masked men moving around the premises in ‘kaccha baniyan’. Clad in gloves and socks — considered a signature of the gang to avoid leaving fingerprints — they appeared equipped with multiple tools. The footage, timestamped around 3.30am, shows them moving through several rooms, opening doors and systematically rummaging through belongings.A case has been registered at Malviya Nagar police station.
