Newly-wed couple found dead at Hyderabad home, suicide suspected
A newly-wed couple was found dead, allegedly by suicide, at their residence in Kukatpally on Saturday, police said.

HYDERABAD: A newly-wed couple was found dead, allegedly by suicide, at their residence in Kukatpally on Saturday, police said.According to Balanagar assistant commissioner of police (ACP) P Naresh Reddy, the deceased couple was identified as Yemjala Karthik, 28, who worked in the marketing cell of a private company, and his wife, Yerramalla Manjula, 27, a homemaker. The couple got married in March.Around 11 am, the incident came to light after Karthik’s brother, who lives on the second floor, went to call him for breakfast and found the door locked from the inside. “On not receiving a response despite knocking several times, Karthik’s brother broke the window and on peeping in, found him dead,” the ACP said. The brother, with the help of neighbours, then broke open the main door and found Manjula lying dead on the bed. The two were immediately shifted to a nearby private hospital, but were declared brought dead by the duty doctors. The hospital passed on the information to police, who reached the spot and shifted the bodies to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.“While the man had visible bodily injuries, there were no external injuries found on the wife’s body. We will only be able to confirm the cause of suicide in Manjula’s case after the post-mortem examination is over,” Kukatpally sub-inspector K Narsimha said.Police were yet to discover what exactly triggered the suicide. “A complaint has been submitted by Manjula’s mother. Her family has not yet placed any suspicion on the husband or his family. The family seems to be in a state of shock. We are yet to discover what may have triggered this event,” the ACP said.Police said Karthik’s mother lived on the ground floor of the building, while his elder brother lived on the second floor. The newly-wed couple lived on the first floor. The family last met the deceased around 1am on Friday. When the couple did not come for breakfast at the mother’s house in the morning, the brother went to check on them and discovered the suicide.Police said the couple had an arranged marriage.A case was registered and further investigation was underway.
