IPL 2026: Who is Ramakrishna Ghosh? CSK’s new all-rounder handed IPL debut vs MI

Ramakrishna Ghosh has stepped into the spotlight after being handed his IPL debut for Chennai Super Kings in their high-profile clash against Mumbai Indians at Chepauk. The Indian all-rounder, picked up for his base price of ₹30 lakh, comes in as part of two changes made by captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. Ghosh replaces Gurjapneet Singh in the XI, with CSK also bringing in Prashant Veer for Akeal Hosein. His inclusion comes at a crucial stage of the season, with Chennai looking to revive their campaign. A right-arm medium pacer and right-handed batter, Ghosh has built his reputation through steady domestic performances for Maharashtra. He made headlines during the Vijay Hazare Trophy when he produced a stunning spell of 7 for 42 against Himachal Pradesh, becoming one of the few players to take seven wickets in a List A game. That performance firmly put him on the radar. He has also shown his ability with the bat. In the same tournament, he smashed a quick 64 off 27 balls against Mumbai, underlining his value as a lower-order hitter. His all-round skills were further evident in the Maharashtra Premier League, where he contributed impactful cameos, including a 52 off 33 balls. Primarily known for his disciplined bowling, Ghosh relies on accuracy, seam movement and consistency rather than raw pace.
