Glenn Close talks about her hand and footprint ceremony

On May 1, in the heart of Hollywood at the official TCL Chinese Theatre, famed veteran star Glenn Close had her hand and footprint ceremony. She was surrounded by her family, friends and fans as she completed the ceremony with a big smile on her face.PEOPLE reported that afterward, when she was called on stage to give a speech, she opened up about all the other veteran legends who came before her and performed the ceremony just as she did. Further on during the speech she added, “We are members of the alien nation, because I think we have more antennae than maybe some other humans. And there are aliens and civilians, and we definitely speak different languages. I fear a world where the civilians completely disenfranchise us aliens. We aliens thrive and live on creative collaboration. It is our sustenance.”

Glenn Close on joining other legendary celebrities

Over the years, many other celebrities have been invited to do the ceremony. Remembering them in her speech, Close added that, “They all had stories of overcoming, of persistence, frequently against the odds who had to balance their public personas against who they really were. People with a dream, of course. But people with a crazy unquenchable belief—the crazy engine of belief—that they had something unique to give to the world, to help us understand what it means to be a human, a human being on this little orb, the earth. To be considered worthy of their company is the honor of my life.”
