Anupamaa actress Madalsa Sharma recalls a famous director asking her to wear a bikini at 19, saying, “I want to see your body language”

Madalsa Sharma, who became a household name as Kavya with debut Hindi TV show, Anupamaa, recently opened up about an uncomfortable experience she went through as a teenager while trying to find her place in the film industry. In an interview with The Male Feminist, Madalsa talk about a disturbing incident that took place in the early days of her career. She recalled how a “renowned filmmaker” made an indecent proposal and asked her to wear a bikini in front of him.Speaking to the YouTube channel, Madalsa shared, “A very renowned filmmaker had called me for a meeting. I was around 19 at that time. He had asked me that he was looking for a girl who was comfortable in a bikini. I thought in my head that it is no big deal to be honest,” Her first instinct, she explained, was to treat it as a legitimate professional discussion, but she also wanted to understand the creative context before agreeing to anything. “Though I was 19 but I was smart.”She added that the director’s demand made things clear for her and also helped her understand his motive, “The director said that he wants to see whether I can wear a bikini. ‘I want to see your body language,’ he said, that whether I would be comfortable to wear it in front of the camera. I said, ‘I am sorry, I am an actor by profession and if there is a requirement for a bikini scene, or whether it is a saree or a lehenga, whatever it is, I am ready to wear it in front of the camera, and I would be comfortable because that is a part of my job.“She set the record straight that wearing a bikini in a private setting for someone’s judgment was not her job. “But to wear it in front of you is not a part of my job! So if you want to cast me on the basis of trusting a talent then you can, and if you don’t, then I know where the door is,’” she said. For the uninitiated, Madalsa is married to Bollywood’s legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty‘s son Mimoh Chakraborty. She started her career with a Telugu film in 2009 named Fitting Master. She later went on to work in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Punjabi, and Hindi cinema.
