New Delhi: A 45-year-old housemaid accused of stealing gold jewellery and cash from a house in Shalimar Bagh was arrested after cops conducted a raid at her residence, where she had allegedly kept aggressive dogs to prevent entry.The accused, identified as Sona, had deployed pitbull, American bully and hybrid dogs around her house, making it difficult for officers to enter. During the raid, she was found hiding under quilts and was taken into custody.DCP (north west) Akanksha Yadav said, “The case was registered on April 19 based on a complaint by a man regarding theft by his housemaid”During questioning, Sona disclosed that she had pledged stolen gold jewellery at multiple financial institutions to obtain loans. So far, 15 gold loan accounts linked to her have been identified. Around 2 kg of gold jewellery has been traced to multiple banks.Police said her bank account has been frozen and efforts are underway to recover the remaining stolen items. A sum of Rs 1 lakh has also been recovered at her instance.
