New Delhi: India and the UAE are discussing a brief stopover by PM Narendra Modi in the Gulf country during his four-nation Europe tour next month.Official sources have clarified though that discussions are still in progress and the visit has not been finalised yet.Modi will be travelling to Norway next month for India-Nordic summit. Later, he will travel to the Netherlands, Sweden and Italy. If the PM’s proposed stopover in the UAE materialises, it will offer India an important opportunity to express solidarity with a country with which it has one of the most consequential strategic partnerships in the Gulf region.Modi has already spoken twice to president Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan and condemned violation of UAE’s sovereignty and territorial integrity by Iran which had launched strikes on GCC countries.
