CGBSE Class 10 result 2026 declared: 77.15% pass, girls at 81.03% outperform boys at 72.27%, over 3.16 lakh students appeared

The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) has declared the Class 10 High School Certificate Examination 2026 results, today, April 29, 2026. The pass percentage for Class 10th stands at 77.15%. This year, a total of 3,21,677 candidates were registered for the examination. Of these, 3,16,730 students appeared, including 1,40,402 boys and 1,76,328 girls. Results have been declared for 3,14,953 candidates, while the remaining cases are either withheld or under different scrutiny categories. Out of the declared results, 2,43,016 candidates successfully passed, taking the overall pass percentage to 77.15%.

Girls outperform boys once again

A clear and consistent trend has reappeared in this year’s results — girls have outperformed boys by a notable margin.

  • Girls pass percentage: 81.03%
  • Boys pass percentage: 72.27%

The gap, more than eight percentage points, continues a pattern seen over previous years where female candidates have steadily maintained stronger academic outcomes.Education analysts often view this trend as a reflection of changing classroom dynamics, higher retention levels among girls, and improved participation in board-level examinations.161 results withheld, over 1,600 applications rejected. The board has also flagged several categories of result restrictions:

  • Results of 161 candidates have been withheld
  • 15 cases linked to cheating
  • 143 cases under scrutiny category
  • 3 cases to be declared later

In addition, 1,616 candidates’ applications were rejected due to lack of eligibility, adding another layer of administrative strictness to this year’s examination cycle.

Merit list shows extreme competition at the top

If the pass percentage shows scale, the merit list shows intensity. The 2026 toppers list reveals a striking pattern — the difference between ranks is often just one mark.Rank 1 (shared by three students):

  • Sandhya Nayak (Mahasamund) – 594/600 (99.00%)
  • Parirani Pradhan (Mahasamund) – 594/600 (99.00%)
  • Anshul Sharma (Mungeli) – 594/600 (99.00%)

Rank 2 (five students):Multiple candidates, including Riya Kesharwani, Ranu Siddhimayi Sahu, Renuka Pradhan, Dipanshi Bouddh, and Nandita Dewangan, scored 593/600 (98.83%).Rank 3 to Rank 5:Scores continue to remain tightly packed, ranging from 592 to 590 marks, reflecting a highly compressed merit structure.
