'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai' returns to its ORIGINAL release date June 5; Varun Dhawan thanks Yash for 'Toxic' postponement

Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde are set to share screen space in the romantic comedy ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’. The film is directed by David Dhawan. The makers have now confirmed that the film will release on June 5, its original date. The update comes after multiple changes to the release schedule.

Multiple changes led to final decision of Varun Dhawan’s film release

The film’s release journey has seen several shifts. It was first pushed to June 12. This came after Yash announced Toxic for a June 4 release. The move was made to avoid a clash with Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar 2’. Later, the makers surprised audiences again. They advanced the release to May 22. This was weeks ahead of the original plan. These changes kept fans guessing about the final release date.

Varun Dhawan shares update

On April 29, Varun Dhawan shared a new poster online. He confirmed that the film will now release on June 5. The decision followed Yash’s announcement about Toxic’s delay. Soon after, Varun posted colourful and quirky visuals from the film. He also thanked Yash and Maddock Films for their support. He wrote, “JUNE 5 TH 2026 in theatres Thankful to @thenameisyash and @maddockfilms for helping us reset the calendar as our film hai jawani toh ishq hona hai will now release on its original date. The first film to release post ipl.”The film is also being seen as a significant project for David Dhawan. It could potentially mark his final directorial venture.

Yash confirms ‘Toxic’ delay

Yash has officially announced that Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups will not release on June 4. This marks the second delay for the film. It was earlier scheduled to release on March 19.In a detailed statement, Yash explained the decision. He said, “There are films we make, and then there are films that remind us why we fell in love with cinema. Toxic has been one such journey. Presenting our film at CinemaCon and witnessing the overwhelming global response reaffirmed what we have always believed-that this film deserves to reach its fullest potential worldwide.”Yash clarified that the film is complete, however, it requires better alignment for a global release. He said, “Toxic is complete, and we are currently aligning global distribution and partnerships. In light of this, we have decided to recalibrate our release timeline. While we will not be releasing on June 4 as announced earlier, we will be releasing at a later, globally aligned date. Toxic will come to theatres across the world soon.”He also spoke about the responsibility of Indian cinema on the global stage. “At a time when Indian cinema is finding its voice and stepping onto the global stage with such promise, each of us has a responsibility to raise the bar. As an actor – producer, I see this moment as an opportunity to do my part for the Indian film industry and for all of us by taking the time to ensure our film reaches the world with the impact it is meant to have.”He thanked fans for their continued support through the changes. “Through every step and every change, your support has stayed with me, and I carry it with deep gratitude.” He concluded by saying, “Some stories ask for patience. Some journeys demand it. We promise to give you a film to enjoy and celebrate – a film that will stand as a proud moment for Indian cinema.”
