Square Enix has released a free demo for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC. The demo comes ahead of the game’s full launch on June 3. The demo lets players experience the game’s opening two chapters and carry their progress into the full version after release. The company also confirmed pre-order bonuses for both digital and physical editions, noting that the third entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy is still in development.
What’s included in the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo
According to Square Enix, the free demo includes Chapters 1 and 2 of the full game. In Chapter 1, players revisit “the Nibelheim incident,” where Cloud Strife recalls events from five years earlier. Players control a younger Cloud alongside Sephiroth as they investigate monster activity near Cloud’s hometown. Chapter 2 shifts to the Grasslands region, where players can explore open areas, find hidden items, and complete side content. The demo also includes access to:
- Real-time combat with strategic command features
- New Synergy Abilities
- Hidden treasures
- Side stories
- Queen’s Blood card game
Square Enix said players can choose not to continue to the Mythril Mine and instead return to earlier areas for additional exploration. Demo data can be transferred to the full game once it launches. Players who complete the demo will also receive in-game bonuses, including:
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth pre-order bonuses
The game is now available for pre-order on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox platforms. Digital Standard Edition includes:

Players who pre-order the physical Nintendo Switch 2 version will receive a Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Zack Fair card featuring variant artwork by Tetsuya Nomura while supplies last. Square Enix also said both versions will be available at a 2% discount until June 10. It’s important to note that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was previously available on PlayStation 5 and PC. With the upcoming release of the Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2, the currently available entries in the remake trilogy will now be accessible across modern gaming platforms. Square Enix also confirmed that the third and final entry in the remake trilogy is currently in development.
