BJP mics placed to disrupt meet: Didi, quits rally
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee

KOLKATA: Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Saturday discontinued a rally in Bhowanipore, alleging microphones set up for a BJP rally just 400m away were placed directly towards her TMC event to “drown out her voice”. “How is it possible to conduct a meeting like this? I have taken permission. Despite that, you see the attitude. Whatever they are doing forcefully to capture Bengal is wrong,” she said. As a visibly angry CM left the stage, saying she would move court against EC for attempting to block her meetings, the area became tense as hundreds of TMC workers gheraoed the Bhowanipore police station in protest. Central forces rushed to the spot. Promising to return to the spot Sunday, the CM urged people to return TMC to office with a two-thirds majority.
