18-year-old extradited from Dubai over murder of woman found dead at London home

An 18-year-old has been extradited from Dubai to the UK and charged with the murder of 27-year-old Kamonnan Thiamphanit, also known as Angela, in a case that shocked Westminster in 2024.Enzo Bettamio was brought back on Friday and formally charged upon arrival, police said. He is set to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

Victim found with multiple stab wounds

Thiamphanit was found dead at her home in Stanhope Place near Hyde Park on April 8, 2024, after officers forced entry into the property. According to the Metropolitan Police, she had suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.Bettamio was extradited from the United Arab Emirates following coordinated efforts between investigators and prosecutors, BBC reported.Police confirmed that the victim’s family has been informed and continues to receive support from specialist officers.The Met previously referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct after it emerged that friends of Thiamphanit had contacted authorities twice the day before her body was found.The case had initially been treated as a medium-risk missing persons inquiry.

Victim’s background

Thiamphanit, who held Chinese-Hong Kong and Thai nationality, had been living in the UK for nearly nine years after moving there for university. She worked in property management and was described by police as having a wide circle of friends.Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the case, acknowledged the family’s patience, calling the period since the incident “incredibly difficult and distressing.” Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing as the case proceeds through the courts.
