Deloitte is planning to reduce several employee benefits for a section of its US workforce starting January 1, 2027, according to a Business Insider report. According to internal documents cited in the report, paid family leave, including parental leave, will be reduced from 16 weeks to eight weeks for affected employees. In addition, annual paid time off (PTO) will also be reduced by 5 to 10 days for many employees, depending on their role and tenure. Deloitte employs about 181,000 people in the United States, though it is not clear how many will be impacted by these changes. The move, the company says is aimed to tailor benefits to better align with the marketplace.
Who will be impacted by Deloitte’s employee benefit change
As per the report, the changes will affect employees under the “Center” talent model, which includes internal roles such as administration, IT support and finance. The company will also stop adding new benefits under its pension plan after December 31. In addition, a $50,000 reimbursement for adoption and surrogacy, which includes IVF treatment support, will be removed starting next year. For example, an employee who previously had 30 days of PTO may see this reduced to 20 days under the new policy. However, PTO for some junior employees will remain unchanged.Despite the reductions, some benefits will continue. Employees will still receive medical and dental coverage, a well-being subsidy, bereavement leave and tuition assistance. The company will also continue offering its 401(k) savings plan and 15 company-wide “disconnect days” along with holidays.
