‘Jersey Shore’ star Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi has revealed that she will undergo a hysterectomy after being diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer at the age of 38.
Snooki reveals cervical cancer diagnosis
The reality tv star shared her diagnosis early this year. In a video shared on social media in January, Polizzi detailed the moment she learned of the cancerous cells following further testing, including a colposcopy and biopsy. “Results come back,” she said. “Doctor calls me, and he’s like, ‘Not looking great.’ He found cancerous cells on the top of my cervix.”“I would love for just the community of mamas who has gotten this done and is dealing with this to just comment below. So we have a community of us who are scared and dealing with this to be there for each other, because being a woman is not easy, and this is definitely a scary thing. And I know I’m going to be fine. It’s just… it’s scary,” she said in the post.
Snooki reacts to cancer diagnosis
Recalling the moment she received the news, she told People, “I had a breakdown. I got to my car and I called my mom hysterically crying, thinking the worst.”Further testing since, the diagnosis confirmed that the cancer had not spread. Doctors have advised a hysterectomy in the coming months, after which no additional treatment is expected to be necessary. Polizzi said, “It’s not the worst case and I can still deal with it. I’m gonna be fine.”
