Supreme Court lawyer hit by speeding car in Jamshedpur, dies

Jamshedpur: A 38-year-old Supreme Court advocate, who was visiting Jamshedpur for a case, was killed after he was hit by a speeding car in Mango area on Thursday morning.The advocate, Shashi Bhushan, a resident of Subhash Colony, was standing by the roadside when the vehicle rammed into him. Eyewitnesses said that the car dragged the victim to about 50 feet before it halted.Pedestrians and morning walkers immediately rushed to the spot, rescued the victim and apprehended the man driving the car. The angry mob also assaulted the driver, but in the melee the latter managed to give them a slip.In the meantime, Ulidih police reached the place of occurrence and rushed the injured to MGM hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared him brought dead.“My brother, who is a lawyer in the Supreme Court, lives in Delhi. He came home on Thursday morning to attend a case at Jamshedpur court,” said Bhushan’s elder brother Shashi Shekhar.After reaching home, he took the scooter out and left for the market. Shortly after we received a phone call from the police informing us about the accident, Shekhar said. Olidih police station in-charge Md Shariq Ali said that the car owner has been apprehended and questioning is being done. “He is a resident of Sakchi and is a 36-year-old man. Questioning is underway, details will be shared later,” OC said.The deceased’s brother said that the SC advocate, who lives in New Delhi, came home on Thursday morning to attend a case at Jamshedpur court
