Kritika Kamra opens up on keeping relationship with Gaurav Kapur private: ‘I was only going to hard launch when it was right’

After months of quietly dating, Kritika Kamra and Gaurav Kapur surprised fans by tying the knot in March this year in an intimate ceremony. The couple had kept their relationship under wraps until December 2025, when Kritika made it Instagram-official—sending fans into a frenzy.

‘I’ve been guarded about my personal life’

Opening up about the decision to stay private, Kritika made it clear that it wasn’t accidental—it was intentional.“It was absolutely intentional because I wanted it to be. I’ve been so guarded about my life, my personal life, all my life actually. I’ve literally grown up in the public space, I started acting when I was 18. In the beginning, I didn’t even know these things, because you’re reckless,” she shared with Hindustan Times.Having spent years in the spotlight, the actor said experience taught her the value of boundaries.“You say anything, you do anything. Everything is on the internet forever. I learned it the hard way that there’s some things that have to be just your own, and you kind of have to protect that. So many interviews and stuff people would ask me about my relationship status, when will you get married,” she added.

‘I was only going to hard launch when it was right’

Kritika eventually introduced Gaurav to the world with a simple breakfast picture—one that spoke volumes. Just four months later, the couple got married. But for her, timing was everything.“I never said anything because I was very sure in my head that I’m only going to hard launch when it is proper, like when it is. Eventually, we had arrived at that point in our relationship where I was like, ‘OK, I’m now happy to introduce this part of my life to the world’ because obviously if you’re going to get married, it’s not gonna be like, what are we going to run away or anything,” she said.

‘This decision is both my heart and head’

Now settled into married life, the couple is focusing on building a home together—quite literally. From living together to refurnishing their space, Kritika said this phase feels just right.“So it was not any one conversation or one question. It was something that we discussed and developed at length multiple times. This has been a decision of both my heart and head for me, and I don’t take it lightly,” she concluded.
