Shoot progress and clarification for the upcoming Anurag Basu film

Talking to Variety India, Anurag Basu addressed rumours about the film’s completion level. He stated that the majority of the shooting being done is a myth. The director confirmed limited progress till now. This update comes after the first look was unveiled in February 2025. Basu said “I’m dying to jump into that film (Kishore Kumar biopic) as soon as I get over with the film (Kartik and Sreeleela-starrer), which I’m doing right now, and I’m galloping with it. I want to finish it because I really want to get into Kishore as soon as possible. Kishore has been in my system for a very long time. I want to get it out right now.” He further told the same portal, “That the majority of the shooting is done is a myth. I’ve not shot more than 45 days for this film. The shooting has just started.”

Initial and recent schedules for the Kartik Aaryan starrer

The team shot for about 45 days in Chalsa in the Dooars region of West Bengal. Glimpses showed Kartik Aaryan in a rugged look alongside Sreeleela. Filming resumed last month in scenic locations of Srinagar and Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir. These schedules have been relatively short so far.

Release date and delay reasons for Sreeleela’s film

The film was originally slated for a December 2025 release. It was later postponed for reasons other than a box office clash. Speculation linked the delay to ‘Dhurandhar’ starring Ranveer Singh but Basu clarified otherwise and no new release date has been announced yet by the makers. Anurag Basu is keen to start the Kishore Kumar biopic soon. Ranbir Kapoor had earlier exited the project and a new lead is yet to be finalised. Kartik Aaryan continues to balance several commitments. His recent release ‘Tu Meri Main Tera’ and he was also seen in the sports drama ‘Chandu Champion’ and has ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’.
