Ryan Reynolds 'never been more proud' of wife Blake Lively, amid lawsuit with Justin Baldoni: 'People have no idea what's really going on'

Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds has come out in strong support for his wife, Blake Lively, amid her ongoing legal dispute with ‘It Ends With Us’ director and actor Justin Baldoni.Reynolds, who was speaking to Today.com, stood by his wife and showered praise on her in front of a live studio audience. The couple has been in the news after a federal judge dismissed her ‘sexual harassment’ allegations ruling that the claims lacked a sufficient connection to California. But her multimillion-dollar lawsuit over alleged retaliation is still set for trial next month in New York City.

Ryan Reynolds on Blake Lively’s ongoing lawsuit

Ryan, who has been by Lively’s side throughout the legal proceedings, spoke about how the situation has affected their family. “You really see the kind of illusion behind so much of this stuff. Digital life vs real life,” he said.“Without getting into too much, I’ll just say I’ve never in my life been more proud of my wife. People have no idea about what’s really going on. I’ve never been more proud of anyone with that level of integrity and brings that with them and carries it with them in everything they do,” Reynolds added.

Ryan Reynolds addressed Deadpool’s future

The actor also briefly addressed the future of his popular superhero character Deadpool, hinting at a shift in how the character may be used in upcoming projects. “I have some stuff written, but I don’t think I’m ever going to centre him again. I think he is a supporting character. He’s a guy that is great in a group,” he said.

About Blake Lively’s upcoming case with Justin Baldoni

As far as the case is concerned, despite the dismissal of 10 of 13 allegations, Lively’s legal team maintains that the focus remains on her retaliation and defamation claims.“This case has always been and will remain focused on the devastating retaliation and the extraordinary steps the defendants took to destroy Blake Lively’s reputation because she stood up for safety on the set,” said Sigrid McCawley, one of Lively’s attorneys, as quoted by Deadline. She added that Lively looks forward to testifying at trial and highlighting coordinated online attacks targeting women in Hollywood.Baldoni’s legal team, on the other hand, welcomed the decision, emphasising that the dismissal does not imply wrongdoing. “Sexual harassment isn’t going forward not because the defendants did nothing wrong but because the court determined Blake Lively was an independent contractor, not an employee,” stated attorneys Alexandra Shapiro and Jonathan Bach.
