Father-son duo stabbed to death in south Delhi, accused detained

NEW DELHI: A 60-year-old man and his 40-year-old son were stabbed to death, allegedly by one of their neighbours, in south Delhi’s Alaknanda on Friday evening. A relative of the victims who tried to intervene was also injured in the attack.The incident took place in Tara Apartments. Police suspect a financial dispute may have led to the killings.The victims, identified as Rakesh Sood and his son Karan, lived in O block and had a property business. A senior police officer said the suspect, identified by police as a resident of F block, visited their flat on Friday, where an argument quickly escalated. During the heated exchange, the suspect allegedly attacked the fatherson duo with a knife, stabbing them repeatedly.Alaknanda twin murders: Raids on to nab suspectBoth the men sustained multiple injuries and collapsed just outside their flat. A relative who attempted to intervene was also attacked. Following the assault, the suspect fled.On discovering the injured, Sood’s family members and neighbours immediately rushed them to a nearby hospital. They were later moved to Max Hospital for treatment. However, the father and his son succumbed to their injuries.Police teams were alerted shortly after the incident and arrived at the apartment complex. The area was cordoned off and forensic experts were called in to inspect the flat and collect evidence.An initial examination of the scene pointed to a violent and targeted attack. Five police teams have been formed and raids are being conducted to trace and arrest the suspect, who is absconding. CCTV footage is also being analysed, police said.The twin murders, meanwhile, have left the residents in shock. “I was at home and rushed to the spot after hearing some commotion… there was a lot of blood everywhere, and police subsequently arrived,” said a resident, not wishing to be named.The accused Asad, a resident of Tara Apartments who attacked the victims with a sharp object, was identified and detained on Saturday morning.
