As per PIB, the new services are intended to strengthen both long-distance and regional rail links across several states, offering passengers a more affordable and reliable travel option. The trains are positioned as a quicker, budget-friendly choice for long-distance journeys in southern India.
New Amrit Bharat and passenger train services
The newly announced services include: Nagercoil–Mangaluru Amrit Bharat Express, strengthening rail connectivity between southern Tamil Nadu and coastal Karnataka via Kerala.The Nagercoil–Mangaluru Amrit Bharat Express (Train Nos. 16329/16330) runs between Nagercoil Junction and Mangaluru Junction, halting at Thiruvananthapuram Central, Varkala Sivagiri, Kollam Junction, Karunagappalli, Kayamkulam Junction, Mavelikara, Chengannur, Tiruvalla, Changanasseri, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Aluva, Thrissur, Shoranur Junction, Tirur, Kozhikode, Thalassery, Kannur and Kasaragod, before reaching its destination in either direction.
Thiruvananthapuram–Tambaram Amrit Bharat Express, providing a direct long-distance link between Kerala and the Chennai suburban regionThe Tambaram–Thiruvananthapuram Central Amrit Bharat Express (Train Nos. 16121/16122) operates between Tambaram and Thiruvananthapuram Central, with scheduled halts at Chengalpattu Junction, Villupuram Junction, Vriddhachalam Junction, Ariyalur, Srirangam, Tiruchchirappalli Junction, Dindigul Junction, Madurai Junction, Virudhunagar Junction, Satur, Kovilpatti, Tirunelveli Junction, Valliyur, Nagercoil Town and Kuzhithura, before reaching the terminal station in either direction.Thiruvananthapuram–Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express, connecting Kerala with TelanganaThe Charlapalli–Thiruvananthapuram North Amrit Bharat Express (Train Nos. 17041/17042) operates between Charlapalli and Thiruvananthapuram North, with scheduled halts at Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, Sattenapalle, Guntur Junction, Tenali Junction, Bapatla, Ongole, Nellore, Renigunta Junction, Tiruttani, Katpadi Junction, Jolarpettai Junction, Salem Junction, Erode Junction, Tiruppur, Coimbatore Junction, Palakkad Junction, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Changanasseri, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikara, Kayankulam Junction, Karunagappalli, Kollam Junction and Varkala Sivagiri, before reaching the terminal station in either direction. A new Thrissur–Guruvayur passenger train, aimed at improving short-distance regional and pilgrimage travel within KeralaRailway officials said these services are designed to offer affordable, non-AC long-distance travel with improved amenities under the Amrit Bharat train category.
