Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin raises black flag, burns delimitation bill copy

CHENNAI: Chief minister M K Stalin raised a black flag and burned a copy of the delimitation bill in Namakkal to show his protest against the proposed delimitation bill, which is set to be tabled in the Parliament special session commencing today. The protest follows the “stern warning” issued to the BJP govt at the Centre for convening the Parliament special session to pass the delimitation bill, through which the representation of south Indian states is set to reduce drastically.Following Stalin’s protest, DMK is set to undertake a state-wide protest by hoisting black flags and burning the bill copies. Stalin had urged people to hoist black flags in their houses and commercial establishment for three days to show their protest. Black flag was hoisted first at the Gopalapuram residence of former CM M Karunanidhi.Speaking about the protest, Stalin said on X that the protest will bring down the BJP govt. “Let the flame of resistance spread across Tamil Nadu. Let the arrogance of the fascist BJP be brought down,” Stalin said.Recalling the anti-Hindi agitation of the 1950s and 1960s, Stalin compared the anti-Hindi agitation with the agitation against delimitation. “Then, the fire of resistance against Hindi imposition that rose from Tamil Nadu scorched Delhi. It quietened only after Delhi was forced to yield. Today, I have reignited that fire by burning the copy of this black law that seeks to turn Tamils into refugees in our own land,” Stalin said, who added that the fire will spread across the Dravidian land and will bring the “BJP’s arrogance” to its knees.
