CSK knock BCCI's door, lodge complaint against RCB for 'Dosa idli' song at Chinnaswamy
CSK flags RCB over ‘Dosa Idli’ song

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have formally lodged a complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) over alleged misconduct during their IPL 2026 clash at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 5.The complaint highlights multiple concerns, ranging from inappropriate in-stadium entertainment to alleged harassment of CSK supporters, adding a fresh layer of controversy to one of the IPL’s fiercest rivalries.According to report by Indian Express sourcing CSK that a song played during the match that included references such as “dosa, idli, sambar, chutney,” which the franchise felt stereotyped and mocked their Tamil Nadu identity. The incident comes amid an increasingly heated rivalry between the two franchises. RCB have now won four consecutive matches against CSK, intensifying tensions between the sides and their fanbases. CSK managing director Kasi Viswanathan told The Indian Express: “The DJs are usually around to support the home team. But at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, it was different. Certain comments were made against our players. Considering it, we have written to the BCCI to have a look into it.”The song in question, originally composed by musician Gana Appu, has been associated with CSK-RCB contests and frequently circulates on social media. The episode dates back to last year, when RCB shared a video of wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma singing “Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney” ahead of a match in Chennai, which drew backlash from CSK fans. During the return fixture at Chepauk, CSK’s DJ played the same track when Jitesh was dismissed.Following that incident, CSK management intervened and issued clear instructions to avoid any remarks or actions that could target opposition players or fans. “Since then, there has been no repeat. The DJ is not supposed to make comments on opposition players, and we are fortunate to have a fanbase that supports us in great numbers,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said. However, CSK have now raised concerns again, pointing out that similar lines were crossed during the April 5 match in Bengaluru. Apart from the song, they have objected to remarks made by the stadium DJ after the dismissal of CSK players. The team management also raised concerns over the conduct of the stadium DJ, alleging that comments made after the dismissal of CSK players crossed the line. CSK argued that the DJ’s role should be to enhance the match atmosphere, not target or ridicule the opposition.
