Bengaluru temperature to touch 38°C in coming days, says IMD

BENGALURU: Parts of Kalaburagi district recorded a maximum temperature of 44°-45°C, while Bengaluru experienced a high of 35.8°C on Wednesday, with the mercury testing new levels this summer. The maximum temperatures in several places in the state over the past couple of days have topped previous records for April.The maximum temperature in Bengaluru is expected to hover between 36°C and 37°C over the next two days. Met dept has issued orange and yellow heatwave alerts in Kalyana Karnataka for next two day.On Tuesday, Bengaluru recorded a maximum of 36.6°C, the hottest day of 2026. Even though the maximum temperature dropped by 0.8°C Wednesday, mercury levels are likely to touch 38°C in the coming days, according to CS Patil, a scientist at IMD Bengaluru.In Bengaluru, as per IMD forecast, the maximum temperature is expected to hover between 36°C and 37°C over the next two days, with dry weather prevailing across the city. Although meteorologists are expecting a few spells of thundershower activity, these are likely to be isolated to one or two areas and may not provide muchneeded relief from the scorching heat.In Kalaburagi, Awrad B recorded 45°C, Chincholi and Afzalpur at 44.03°C, and Kalaburagi city 42.1°C. Here, the maximum temperature is expected to cross the 45-degree mark.With temperatures rising 3°C to 4°C above normal, Kalaburagi deputy commissioner Fauzia Tarannum has advised citizens not to venture out between 11:30am and 5pm for non-essential activities and urged them to stay hydrated.Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Gadag, Haveri, Dharwad and Belagavi have been placed under a yellow alert for hot and humid conditions.
