A college soccer player is now at the center of a growing story after a protest in Minneapolis. Paige Ostroushko, who played for the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, was arrested during an ICE protest on April 11. The incident happened at the Whipple Federal Building and quickly gained attention after videos started spreading online.According to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, three people were arrested that day, including Ostroushko. The situation became widely discussed after Savanah Hernandez, a Turning Point USA contributor, shared videos from the protest. As more videos came out, the situation became more serious. Authorities confirmed that Ostroushko was arrested for disorderly conduct. Her father and boyfriend were also taken into custody. The sheriff’s office later said that her father, Chris Ostroushko, was arrested for obstruction with force.Hernandez shared her side of the story on social media. She wrote, “This is now the second time I have been mobbed and assaulted for filming a protest on U.S. streets.” In another post, she described what happened the next day. “I’m waking up with a headache and stiff neck this morning due to how violently anti-ICE activist, Chris Ostroushko shoved me down yesterday,” she said. She also added, “A second angle shows that he had to be held back by 5 men as he continued to charge at me. I didn’t speak a word to him all day yet he repeatedly called me names and very clearly looks like he wanted to hurt me even worse than he did.”After the incident, Hernandez said her team would change how they handle safety. “I’ve never asked for security when conducting point-and-shoot journalism,” she wrote. “However, after Saturday, TPUSA ensured that I will have new security protocols moving forward due to the violent nature of the situation.”The case is now being looked at more closely. Harmeet Dhillon from the Justice Department shared online that the FBI is aware of what happened. The agency later confirmed this to NewsNation, saying, “The FBI is aware of the incident that occurred at the Whipple Building. Out of respect for the ongoing investigation, we will refrain from commenting or providing additional information at this time.”There have also been changes at the university level. Ostroushko is no longer listed on the women’s soccer roster at UW Stevens Point, although her profile page is still visible. The university has not yet shared an official comment, as reported by Us Weekly.Right now, the case is still under review, and more updates are expected as the investigation continues.
