Kendra Duggar warns Joseph Duggar through a jail call: ‘Don’t trust anyone’

TRIGGER WARNING: This article includes references to sexual abuse. The legal battle around Kendra and Joseph Duggar just keeps getting messier. Now, there are jail call recordings, and they’re intense. One can actually hear fear in their voices. They sound rattled, tired, and desperate to keep control as everything unravels. In these calls, Kendra sounds almost frantic when she tells Joseph to “cut off communication,” “board up the hatches,” and most of all, “don’t trust anyone.” She’s not just saying this once, either. She brings it up again and again.

Kendra Duggar’s jail call warning to Joseph Duggar: What happened?

The calls, recorded in March while Joseph Duggar was in custody, reveal Kendra advising extreme caution as legal pressures mount around them.Per People, the calls started last month while Joseph was locked up. Kendra keeps reminding him not to talk to anyone except their lawyer, no one else, not even other family, unless she specifically says so.They’d say “I love you” but steered clear of the details about the charges. Their conversations circle the same themes: don’t talk, beware outsiders, close ranks. At one point, Kendra finds out Joseph spoke to someone else, and she’s furious, telling him, “Do NOT talk to Greg, whatever you do.” She stresses every word. No explanation for who Greg is, just don’t talk to him.In another call, Joseph opens with, “Hi, it’s Joe here. Just know that we can’t talk about a lot on here.” He’s cautious from the first word. Three days later, Kendra is even more blunt: “I don’t know what’s happening, but what I will say is just don’t trust anyone. If there’s anything I’ve learned from this, do not trust anyone, that’s all I can say.” She says it slowly, carefully. “I’m boarding up my walls,” she adds. Even if someone seems nice, she tells Joseph, “Be careful about who you’re speaking to and start boarding up the hatches.”Their words make it clear they think people are out to get them: callers, investigators, maybe even family. Joseph mentions reading Psalm 54, swapping in Kendra’s name so it’s “Arrogant foes are attacking Kendra; ruthless people are trying to kill Kendra.” He says this passage comforts him. Kendra sends him the lyrics to his favorite song, ‘The Truth’, by Megan Woods, about lies and enemies always whispering. It’s obvious how isolated and attacked they feel.

More on Joseph and Kendra Duggar

For the unversed, Joseph Duggar, 31, is part of the famously large and conservative Duggar family, with ‘19 Kids and Counting’. After years on TV, one would think nothing could surprise this family. But these criminal charges opened a can of worms. The most serious allegations came in March 2026. Police in Florida arrested Joseph for lewd and lascivious molestation of a minor under 12, connected to a 2020 incident with a nine-year-old girl. The case didn’t come to light right away as the report took years to emerge. Joseph says he’s innocent. He’s out on a USD 600,000 bond but is under heavy restrictions, including no unsupervised contact with minors.Joseph married Kendra in 2017, and they have four kids.On top of the allegations against Joseph, the Arkansas problems are an add-on where both Joseph and Kendra were charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and false imprisonment after a police inspection of their home turned up exterior door locks on the children’s rooms. These charges are separate from the molestation case, but they’ve only made things worse. Kendra turned herself in and is out on bail now, both of them facing another hearing in late April. To make things more complicated, the Arkansas Department of Human Services and local police searched their house on March 19. The next day, more charges followed, and this time, both got hit with new counts based on the separate investigation by Arkansas officials.Notably, for the Duggar family, this isn’t their first scandal. Joseph’s older brother, Josh Duggar, is already in prison for receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material, a conviction that led to the TV show’s cancellation and wrecked the family’s reputation. As of now, Joseph and Kendra are expected to appear in court in late April 2026.DISCLAIMER: If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, assault, or abuse, please seek immediate help.
