VinFast VF MPV7 launch tomorrow: Kia Carens Clavis EV, Mahindra XEV 9S rival!

Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast is all set to launch its new electric MPV, the VF MPV7, in India tomorrow. Ahead of its debut, the company has already opened bookings for the model, with customers able to reserve it by paying a token amount of Rs 21,000. Here’s a quick look at what you expect from this upcoming Kia Carens Clavis EV and Mahindra XEV 9S rival.

The VF MPV7 will be positioned as a practical, family-focused electric vehicle. It is expected to rival models such as the Kia Carens Clavis EV, Mahindra XEV 9S and BYD eMax7 in the segment.In terms of design, the MPV carries a boxy and upright stance. It features vertically stacked LED headlamps and a full-width LED light bar at the front, along with a clean bumper design. The side profile is defined by a long wheelbase, large glass area and an extended roofline, while the rear continues the full-width lighting theme. The India-spec model could feature smaller 18-inch wheels compared to the 19-inch units seen globally.Inside, the cabin is expected to offer a three-row, seven-seat layout with a clean dashboard design. Features like leatherette upholstery, soft-touch materials and a two-tone finish are likely. The second row is expected to get reclining seats, while foldable rear rows could free up boot space of up to around 1,240 litres depending on configuration.

On the features front, the VF MPV7 is expected to come equipped with a 10.1-inch touchscreen that doubles up as the instrument cluster, along with a head-up display, connected car tech, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other expected highlights include automatic climate control, a PM2.5 air filter, push-button start and multiple USB Type-C ports. Safety features are likely to include multiple airbags, ABS, traction control, electronic stability control, hill hold assist and Level 2 ADAS.While official India-specific powertrain details are yet to be confirmed, the global-spec model uses a 60.13 kWh battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing 201 hp and 280 Nm of torque. It claims a driving range of up to 450 km (NEDC cycle) and supports DC fast charging up to 80 kW, enabling a 10 to 80 per cent charge in around 30 minutes. Similar specifications are expected for the India version.
