A woman accused of making a false bomb threat against her ex-boyfriend has been arrested in what police describe as a revenge act following a break-up.47-year-old Brooke Ayers contacted American Airlines last Wednesday, claiming her former partner was planning to carry explosives onto a flight departing from Roswell Air Center in New Mexico. The call came just hours after the couple ended their relationship.The report triggered an immediate security response. The 34-year-old man, who had been visiting Ayers from Indiana, was stopped by authorities at the airport. Police diverted traffic in the surrounding area while a bomb squad searched his rental vehicle for any signs of explosives.No device was found, and officers later confirmed the threat was unfounded. The man was released without charge.“The investigation found Ayers made the false claim following an argument she had with the 34-year-old man the previous night, resulting in the end of their relationship,” Roswell Police said in a statement.Officers later went to Ayers’ home to question her about the call. Police said she became confrontational during the encounter.“Ayers threatened to get a knife and use it against an officer, so she was placed in handcuffs to transport her to the police department for questioning,” cops said.They added: “While being handcuffed, Ayers resisted and dug her nails into the arm of one of the officers.”Authorities said Ayers was taken into custody and now faces multiple charges, including making a bomb scare, aggravated assault on a peace officer, battery upon a peace officer, and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer. In her mugshot, she appears to be smiling.
