Swedish automaker Volvo Cars has revealed the new Volvo EX60 electric midsize SUV globally. It’s the first vehicle based on the EV-specific SPA3 platform and is positioned as the electric alternative to the XC60. The EX60 will debut in European markets before being introduced in the Americas at a later stage. The EX60 is also available in a Cross Country version that adds 20mm of ground clearance, stainless-steel skid plates, and matte-black body cladding. It gets an exclusive Frost Green exterior shade, a distinct interior theme and materials, Cross Country badging on the D-pillar and bumpers, and adaptive air suspension with an off-road mode.
Talking about the powertrain first, the EX60 will be available in trim levels, with battery size, power output and range varying across the line-up. The entry-level P6 Electric uses an 83kWh battery with a rear-mounted motor delivering 374hp and 480Nm of torque. The P10 AWD adds a front motor and a larger 95kWh battery, raising combined output to 510hp and 710Nm. At the top sits the P12 AWD, which pairs a 117kWh battery with a dual-motor setup producing 680hp and 790Nm.Claimed WLTP ranges stand at up to 620km, 660km and 810km for the three variants, while fast-charging capability remains common across the range. All versions support DC fast charging of up to 400kW, enabling a 10 to 80 per cent charge in under 20 minutes, along with AC charging at speeds of up to 22kW.
Talking about design, it follows Volvo’s similar design language with a closed-grille front design and a split headlamp arrangement, featuring Thor’s Hammer LED daytime running lights and LED headlamps positioned lower on the bumper. Along the sides, the SUV uses clean surfaces with subtle lines around the wheel arches and doors. A sculpted crease and black cladding run along the lower doors, while illuminated wing-style handles replace conventional door handles. Wheel options range from 20 to 22 inches, with wider rear tyres for added traction.At the rear, the EX60 is fitted with slim LED tail-lamps, a black strip across the upper tailgate, thick black cladding and a thin silver insert on the bumper. Two exterior themes are offered: Bright, with silver accents on the door sills and bumpers, and Dark, which uses black finishes instead.
Moving Inside, the Volvo EX60 features a dual-tone cabin with a layered dashboard layout. Interior highlights include a large touchscreen infotainment system, advanced driver assistance systems and a premium audio setup. Features-wise it gets an 11.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15-inch Android-based infotainment screen. Other features include an electrochromic glass roof, heated and ventilated front seats, powered driver seat with memory, Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, OTA updates and the Google Gemini AI assistant. Audio duties are handled by a 21-speaker Bose system, with an optional 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins upgrade, while rear passengers get reclining seats.
