According to Sun NXT and OTTplay Premium, ‘Sheshippu’ began streaming on both platforms on January 23. The makers confirmed the OTT launch earlier this week, drawing fresh attention from people who have followed the film since it screened at the 2025 International Film Festival of Kerala. Festival reports noted that “Those who missed the film’s 2025 IFFK showing eagerly awaited its OTT release.”Skipping a theatrical release has not lowered interest in the film. Instead, early viewers believe the film may garner more attention and glowing reviews after its OTT debut. With English subtitles available, the makers are also hoping to attract non-Malayalam audiences. Recent Malayalam films that premiered on Sun NXT include ‘Ithiri Neram’, ‘Kirkkan’, and ‘Nidhiyum Bhoothavum’, all of which found steady viewership online.

‘Sheshippu’ runs for one hour and twenty-five minutes and stars Meenakshi Jayan, Rashid Rahman, and Rajan Pootharakkal. Directed by debutants Sreejith S Kumar and Gritto Vincent, the film focuses on loneliness, nostalgia, and the suppressed emotions that make up close connections. The story follows a lonely ghost writer who encounters a traumatised woman, leading to an unanticipated kinship between two broken individuals.The directors have described the film as having “a grounded narrative approach based on psychological complexity, grounded performances, and a distinctive production style.” Backed by the makers of ‘Pallotty 90’s Kids’, the film was officially selected for the Malayalam Cinema Today category at IFFK 2025. Meenakshi Jayan’s other recent film, ‘Victoria’, also earned positive reviews during its brief theatrical run, though it is yet to release online.
