'Avengers: Doomsday' first look set for CinemaCon debut amid star-studded showcase of 'Spider-Man', 'The Odyssey' and more

The wait for an official look at ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ might finally come to an end next weekend! Amid much buzz about the highly anticipated Marvel superhero film, reports now state that the first look is set to be unveiled at CinemaCon on April 16. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Marvel film, which has remained largely under wraps, is anticipated to take centre stage during Disney’s panel at the event. Industry insiders suggest the film is already “exploding” on long-lead tracking and tracking a box office take over this December with an assured USD 1 billion haul. This makes its CinemaCon debut an opportune moment for the studio to offer a first substantial glimpse of the film and flex its box office potential. This comes after the makers ditched the usual Super Bowl trailer drop this year. This marked the first time in over a decade that Marvel skipped a trailer release, opting instead for an online trailer launch. This in turn seemed to have helped ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ score a new record and become the first movie trailer to cross 1 billion views online.Disney, which has traditionally leaned on footage-driven presentations, is now expected to bring significant star power to help release its film slate. While mush of the spotlight is likely to fall on ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, given the secrecy surrounding the project, this year’s event, which will be held at the Colosseum Theater at Caesars Palace, will draw in some of the biggest names in the business. Filmmakers such as Christopher Nolan and Steven Spielberg are rumoured to appear to promote their films ‘The Odyssey’ and ‘Disclosure Day’. Actors including Zendaya, Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Timothee Chalamet and Tom Cruise, among others, are expected to be on the panel. Films in the Star Wars slate, including ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’, directed by Jon Favreau and set for release in May, as well as ‘Starfighter’, slated for next year and starring Ryan Gosling, are expected to be other big draws. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Dune: Part 3’ are currently expected to clash at the box office, with both films currently slated for December 18 releases. Rumours doing the rounds claim that ‘Doomsday’ may just advance its release by a week to release the film on December 11, offering it a clear window and a week long run on IMAX screens before it makes way for ‘Dune: Part Three’.
