WARANGAL: In a sensational case involving the killing of a pregnant woman and her two daughters, Warangal police swiftly cracked the mystery, arresting 10 accused and launching a manhunt for two absconding doctors, Commissioner of Police Sunpreeth Singh said on Friday. In connection with the alleged sex determination and the brutal killing, police arrested paramedical staff, a medical shop owner, one doctor, and the main accused. The triple murder took place on April 1 on the outskirts of Warangal city, in Punnelu village under Inavolu mandal. Following the incident, the police commissioner constituted special teams and expedited the investigation into the murder of the pregnant woman and her daughters. Warangal Commissioner of Police Sunpreeth Singh said a 10-member gang had been nabbed, while two doctors were absconding. During interrogation, the main accused, Md Azaruddin, confessed to the crime. He stated that the medical shop owner, Satla Raju of Punnelu village, suggested abortion after repeated requests. However, Raju refused to approach a hospital. Azaruddin then contacted RMO Dr L Naresh and lab technician Manohar. Based on their advice, Azaruddin and his wife, Farhath, went to Suraksha Hospital in Kazipet, where Dr S Ravali and nurse Sravanthi allegedly took Farhath to Neekonda and conducted a sex determination test. Subsequently, at Dr B Purnima Upender Hospital, abortion was suggested and carried out. In this connection, Azaruddin’s family members — Chanda Pasha, Md Saleha, and M Sharoddin — were arrested, along with paramedical staff Sravanthi, Manohar, Naresh, and V Bhadru; medical shop owner Satla Raju; and one doctor, Dr B Parthu. Two women doctors, Dr B Purnima and S Ravali, are absconding. Police said that in the murder case, Azaruddin had also duped a minor girl and proposed marriage to her. The girl’s parents refused, citing that he already had two children and that his wife was pregnant with a third child. Frustrated, Azaruddin allegedly planned to eliminate his wife and daughters. As part of the plan, he disconnected CCTV cameras and cut off the power supply at his farmhouse. He then took his wife and two daughters to the farmhouse swimming pool and pushed them into the water, holding them under until they died. After confirming their deaths, he allegedly staged the incident as an accidental drowning following his daughter’s birthday celebration. The victim’s father, Sk Ali, later lodged a complaint, suspecting foul play. Police initially registered a case of suspicious death, but during the investigation uncovered the involvement of the accused, including the doctors and paramedical staff. All arrested accused were produced before a court, and efforts are underway to trace the two absconding doctors, the commissioner said. A case under the POCSO Act has also been registered against Azaruddin for allegedly influencing a minor girl for marriage.
