Nasirr Khan: If you let fame go to your head, then it hurts

Actor Nasirr Khan, who is seen as Jhende in Tumm Se Tumm Tak, has seen the industry up close for a really long time to share his insight on fame and public attention. While he enjoys it, he feels that an artist shouldn’t let that overshadow his work.He said, “I deal with the fame and public attention by enjoying it and not taking it seriously. I understand that it is a part and parcel of the acting profession. Name and fame come hand in hand, but if you let it go to your head, then it hurts.”Even in the toughest of times, the actor practices self-motivation. He believes that nothing is permanent and keeps moving forward. He said, “I have learned from the tough times that it won’t get over until you give up. In this industry you can start at any age and keep working as long as you can or want. So just keep working or looking for work, because you never know which one will click and when.”Though Nasirr has poured in considerable time and effort into the industry, he did not shy away from admitting that he has indeed experienced self-doubt. He added, “One has to self-motivate and keep telling oneself that no matter how the hard times are, the good times are just around the corner. One must keep pushing and moving ahead.”In his personal life, his family is his first priority. He said, “Next comes work and other things. Since the initial days of my career, I have compartmentalized my duties into my priorities. I have separated my personal and professional lives, and I can very clearly identify which one is which.”His friends and family keep him grounded by showing him the reality, and he said, “They keep me aware that I am still an ordinary and common person.”Asked how he deals with criticism, both from critics and social media, he said, “I take note of every criticism but don’t get affected by it. Instead, I learn from it and try to apply it. “Till the time you don’t make a mistake, you don’t learn.”While he enjoys appreciation, he considers his faults to be a bigger help in enhancing his craft. “It’s important to see the negatives in order to better and strengthen your positives,” he said, adding that every day is a new day, and every day he tries to achieve something new. He continued, “Every day I try to learn something new and take on new challenges.”Biggest lesson fame has taught you? “That it doesn’t last forever,” Nasirr ended.
