Major Security Breach At Delhi Assembly As Car Rams Gate, Driver And Two Others Arrested

Sarabjit Singh, was apprehended in Delhi after a security breach at the Assembly, claiming he was searching for his missing nephew and was given opium.

NEW DELHI: “I was looking for my missing nephew… someone fed me opium… I don’t know what happened, but I did not do anything wrong,” murmured a seemingly incoherent Sarabjit Singh as a police team led by SHO Ramesh Chander conducted a spot interrogation after intercepting him in north Delhi’s Roop Nagar area.Chander and the team were the ones who spotted and apprehended Singh after a ‘BOLO’ (be on the lookout) notice was flashed to intercept the car following the breach at Delhi Assembly on Monday.

Singh’s family rushed to Delhi from UP’s Pilibhit after hearing the news and provided documents related to his psychiatric treatment to cops, claiming he was innocent and had no criminal record.Singh told police he was distraught after his sister’s son Harman went missing on April 2 from west Delhi’s Hari Nagar. Anxious to find him, Singh told cops he went on a road trip, visiting Chandigarh and other places in Punjab to pray.Singh’s claims are being corroborated, police said, adding the ‘missing child’ narrative has been confirmed. Cops said Singh was so incoherent he wanted to go back and “meet some officers” even after exiting the assembly premises. It was then he met two other people, including a taxi driver, said police. He gave him money to take him to meet a “high-ranking official” who could help him. CCTV footage confirmed he was alone at the time of the breach.Singh belongs to a financially sound family that has large patches of agricultural land in Pilibhit’s Tarai belt. Some relatives are in the transport business. His father Kulwant Singh died some time ago.On Facebook, Singh claims to have his own business and completed his school education at Springdale College. He says he pursued further studies at a Bareilly college. The SUV involved in the incident appeared in two reels on social media. In one, he is having the car washed while in the other, he is driving it at a speed of 183kmph. Singh also posted in support of the farmers’ protest.
