JHUNJHUNU: A 25-year-old man died by suicide by jumping in front of a train in Jhunjhunu district Saturday, hours after his wife was found hanging at her in-laws’ house, police said.The deceased, identified as Sachin Kantiwal, a resident of Padampura, allegedly took the extreme step near Durjanpura village in Nawalgarh after learning about the death of his wife, 23-year-old Bharti Meghwal. The couple had been married for nearly 23 months. The deaths came just a week after the couple celebrated the first birthday of their infant son. According to police, Bharti was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside a room at her in-laws’ home earlier in the day. Family members informed the police after bringing her down. Sultana police station officer Ravindra Singh reached the spot and initiated proceedings. Police said Sachin had gone to Jaipur Saturday morning. During his absence, Bharti allegedly locked herself inside a room after a family dispute at home. Sachin’s father, Subhash, said Bharti’s family was informed, but by the tiem they arrived, she had hung herself. After being informed of his wife’s death, Sachin allegedly jumped in front of a train a few hours later. Before his death, he posted messages on Instagram saying, “I too cannot live without you, I am coming,” and “Miss you Bharti, cannot live, kept my promise. Miss you beta.” Bharti’s family later lodged a case at Sultana police station against her in-laws, alleging that she was harassed and beaten over dowry and driven to suicide. Police said the complaint was filed by Bharti’s brother and an investigation has been started. Relatives reported ongoing tensions in the marriage, with Sachin’s father, Subhash, claiming the couple frequently argued. After post-mortem examinations, both bodies were handed over to their families.
