UP Police recruitment 2026: Over 81,000 vacancies announced; notifications to be released in phases

UP Police recruitment 2026: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced the largest-ever recruitment drive for the Uttar Pradesh Police. More than 81,000 vacancies will be filled for various posts including Constables, Sub-Inspectors, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), Jail Warders, and Technical posts.The recruitment notifications will be released in phases by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB). Candidates can check official updates on the website uppbpb.gov.in.

Recruitment to be held in phases

According to the announcement, the recruitment drive will take place during financial year 2026-27. Some recruitment processes have already started, while others will be announced soon.According to CM Yogi Adityanath, the recruitment drive aims to strengthen the police force and create employment opportunities.“The financial year 2026-27 is going to be very important for the youth. This year, preparations are underway to fill more than 81,000 posts in Uttar Pradesh Police. This recruitment drive will not only provide employment to the youth but will also energise the state and provide a modern police force,” he said in a post on X.

UP Police recruitment 2026: Vacancy details

The vacancies will be filled across multiple posts:

  • Constable (Civil Police): 32,679 posts (Ongoing)
  • Sub-Inspector (SI/Daroga): 4,800+ posts (Exam held in March 2026)
  • SI/ASI Clerical Cadre: 537 posts (Ongoing)
  • PAC Constable: To be notified
  • Jail Warder: To be notified
  • Confidential Sub-Inspector: To be notified
  • Radio Assistant Operator: To be notified
  • Computer Operator Grade-A: To be notified
  • Special Security Force (SSF): To be notified
  • Mounted Police Constable: To be notified
  • Women Battalion: To be notified

Most posts require 12th pass or graduation qualification depending on the position.

Selection process

The UP Police recruitment 2026 selection process will include the following stages:Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT)Candidates will appear for an objective-type written exam. The test will cover:

  • General Knowledge
  • Hindi
  • Reasoning
  • Numerical Ability
  • Law and Constitution (for SI posts)

Stage 2: Physical Standard Test (PST)Candidates’ height, chest, and weight will be measured as per standards.Stage 3: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)Physical fitness will be tested through running:

  • Male candidates: 4.8 km run in 28 minutes
  • Female candidates: 2.4 km run in 16 minutes

Stage 4: Document VerificationCandidates must submit original documents including:

  • Educational certificates
  • Age proof
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Domicile certificate

Stage 5: Medical ExaminationCandidates will undergo a medical fitness test including:

  • Vision
  • Hearing
  • Physical fitness
  • Overall health
