Kedarnath Yatra 2026: Opening and Closing Dates of Kedarnath Temple; know how to register?

Kedarnath Temple is one of the most sacred places in Hindu religion. The temple is one of the powerful Jyotirlingas, which is purely devoted to Lord Shiva. Every year, large number of devotees eagerly wait for this auspicious moment to have a glimpse of sacred Shivalingam and seek blessings of Lord Shiva. Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) has formally declared the 2026 Kedarnath Opening Date. The announcement states that the Kedarnath temple will open its gates on April 22, 2026, at 8:00 AM after performing special puja rituals.

The date was announced during the Mahashivratri celebration. At the Panchkedar Gaddisthal Shri Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath, Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee Chairman Ajendra Ajay held a religious event on Mahashivratri. During that event, the priest (Acharya and other Vedapathis) of the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath chose the opening date according to the Hindu panchang calendar. On the day of Bhai Dooj in 2025, the doors were locked over the winter; they will reopen on April 22, 2026 at 8 AM.

April 18, 2026 Panchamukhi Bhogmurti of Lord Kedarnath will leave for Guptkashi from Ukhimath
April 19, 2026 It will depart from Guptkashi for second stop FATA
April 20, 2026 It will depart from FATA for the third stop, Gauri Kund
April 21, 2026 Pachamukhi doli will reach Kedarnath dham from Gaur Kund in the evening
April 22, 2026 The doors of sacred shrine will open at 8 AM

Kedarnath Temple 2026: How to register?

Step 1: You can visit the online official website – https://registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in/Step 2: Click on the Register or Login Step 3: First time users need to create the account with your mobile number and email ID.Step 4: Fill the full details of traveller

  • Full Name
  • Age
  • Gender
  • Photo ID
  • Contact Details for each traveller

Step 5: Select the dates and destination

  • Choose Kedarnath and add expected date for darshan.

Step 6: Upload the ID proofs

  • You need to scan the ID’s and upload them on the official website and keep the size under 1 MB.

Step 7: Submit and download the pass

  • Once you submit the details then download the QR based yatra pass so that you can carry the printed copy of that pass with you.
