KALABURAGI: Businessman Anil Rathod, 45, son-in-law of former minister Revunayak Belamagi, was hacked to death by miscreants at his office in Kalaburagi city late on Thursday night. Rathod had an office at Venkateswara Complex near P&T Colony on Old Jewargi Road and was engaged in finance and real estate. Police said that while he was at the office late at night, three men arrived in an autorickshaw, broke in and attacked him with machetes. Rathod died on the spot, and the attackers fled. Kalaburagi police commissioner Sharanappa and senior officers inspected the premises. A dog squad and fingerprint experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory collected. The police have yet to ascertain the motive, though it is suspected to be linked to a financial transaction. CCTV footage has been secured, and teams are analysing it. A case has been registered at Station Bazar police station, and a probe is on. The murder created tension in the city for some time.
