Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka struck a calm and reassuring tone after his side’s disappointing defeat, urging patience and belief as the IPL 2026 season unfolds. Taking to X, Goenka reminded fans that “this is a long season” and backed his captain and team to “respond with strength,” while also thanking supporters who turned up at the Ekana Stadium.

His message came on a night where LSG were outplayed by the Delhi Capitals, who pulled off a remarkable six-wicket win despite a shaky start. Chasing a modest 142, DC were reeling at 26 for 4 before Sameer Rizvi produced a composed and match-winning unbeaten 70. Batting with maturity beyond his years, Rizvi stitched together a decisive 119-run partnership with Tristan Stubbs, who played a steady supporting role. For LSG, it was a match that raised more questions than answers. Their batting faltered early, managing just 141 after being put in. Tactical decisions, including the reshuffling of the top order by captain Rishabh Pant, did not pay off.
