‘Dada’: Rajkummar Rao begins Sourav Ganguly biopic shoot, shares BTS pics from the sets |

Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao, who was last seen in ‘Maalik’, has officially begun shooting for his next film, ‘Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story’, directed by filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane.On Wednesday, the actor took to his Instagram, and shared BTS pictures from the sets of the film. The first picture is of the clapperboard from the sets. The second picture is of the Sourav Ganguly stand at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata.

He wrote in the caption, “And it begins … The one and only #DADA.”

Rao began prep for the film almost 6 weeks ago. In a post, the actor shared in February that he would be losing a few extra pounds to play the sportsman. In a post he wrote, “And now it’s the transition phase and time to lose these extra kgs and get ready to slip into Ganguly mode. Our very own Dada. Will always work the hardest to engage you, entertain you through my work. Much Love.”Director-choreographer Farah Khan took to the comments section, and wrote, “All the best raaajjjjj”.

About the film

The makers are yet to share the official plotline of the film, ‘Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story’ is expected to cover his cricketing career, captaincy era, and role in shaping modern Indian cricket.Ganguly, who played for the Indian cricket team from 1992 to 2008, scored 18,575 runs in Test and ODIs, and has 38 centuries to his credit.In an interview with PTI in July 2025, Ganguly says Rao is the right choice to portray him in the film. He said, “I think the right person is doing it… I’ll help him with everything.”
