UGC extends last date for ODL, online programme admissions 2025-26; check new deadline

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has extended the last date for admissions to Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online programmes for the academic session 2025-26.According to the official notice, the last date for admission for the February 2026 session has been extended to April 10, 2026. Earlier, the deadline was March 31, 2026.The decision was taken after receiving several requests from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The extension will allow more students to complete their admission process.

UGC admission deadline extended

The commission has also extended the last date for submission of admission data on the UGC Distance Education Bureau (UGC-DEB) portal. Institutions can now submit admission details by April 13, 2026.All Higher Education Institutions offering programmes through ODL or online mode have been advised to follow the revised timeline and comply with UGC regulations.

UGC has also asked students to carefully verify the recognition status of programmes before taking admission. Candidates should check whether the course and institution are approved under ODL or online mode.The commission has also issued public notices advising stakeholders to take necessary precautions before enrolling in programmes offered through distance or online learning modes.Some UGC-recognised universities offering ODL programmes include National Sanskrit University, Rajiv Gandhi University, Tezpur University, University of Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia, Central University of Haryana, Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Pondicherry University, and Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad.Students are advised to visit the official website regularly for further updates and complete their admission process before the revised deadline.Read the official notice available here.
